A.N.D…a new denim brand

We are so excited to tell you about a new denim brand…really, that’s the name:

A.N.D.

We’ve brought in 5 different styles – straight leg, crops, skinny, distressed and slouchy…something for everyone!

Not only is A.N.D. new to us, but it is a whole new way of looking at denim.  The brand is based around a revolutionary fabric process exclusive to A.N.D.  The creators of the brand took pure, untreated denim and transformed it into a soft and worn-in fabric without using water during the process, thus maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the indigo dyed denim.

As no water is used during the making of the jeans, A.N.D. provides “wears” rather than the traditional “washes”.  The line provides three different “wears” – 50 wears, 150 wears and 250 wears.  Sean Barron, the founder of the brand notes, “A year ago I started working with the most prestigious denim mills to develop a process that would take the pure raw indigo denim and break it down.  Once the fabric has gone through the process we are able to truly create jeans that look and feel as if they have been worn without being washed.“

A.N.D. stems from the thought that women love the look and color of raw denim jeans but do not like the stiff and uncomfortable feel.  With the unique no water process A.N.D. provides authentic raw denim styles while eliminating the time and effort it takes to “wear” in the jeans.

The A.N.D. design team is comprised of true “jeaners” who took a note from denim’s roots by bringing back the authentic jean, using indigo dyed yarn with a focus on construction, fit and quality.  “We feel that authentic jeans are missing from the market and everything feels very trend driven.  We are going back to heritage jeanswear and not focusing on the latest trends,” says Barron.

white jeans

We have to admit it…we didn’t think we were “rule breaker” types but I guess a peek at our history would tell you otherwise.

(Like the crazy idea to open a “full time/part time” store that is only open 3 days a week…hmmm)

And now for another rule we think should be broken…the silly no white jeans/pants before Memorial Day “rule”.

Really, we just not down with that!  If you wait too long to break out your whites it will be 1,000,000 degrees and so hot the last thing you will want to put on is jeans…so we say break ‘em out NOW!

Why not?  It’s fun to break a few rules every now and then!

Today (Friday) is the last day we are open before we shut her down for a little Spring Break.  What are the keys to looking great while traveling?  We look to a few of our favorite stylish ladies for some travel style inspiration.

nyc in rewind…

 Ahhh…to be home!

We just arrived home yesterday after 4 fun filled nights in NYC buying for Fall 2013.

So, what did we do while we were busy buying, you ask?  Well, here’s a little peek at our trip…

 1.  We drank some wine and ate some really good food!

and occasionally a cocktail…

2.  We went to D&A & Coterie to scout some new lines to bring you.

And while we were there, we ran into our favorite local NYC designer, Gail Travis, of N.F.P..  We were dying over her new designs for fall and

CAN NOT WAIT to bring her in again for a trunk show…amazing!

3.  We found some great new jewelry…these amazing little beauties are all one of a kind so we were able to walk out of the market with them.  That means no waiting…they will be in store when we open today!

P.S. – Joanna about died over these – she has been talking about bringing them in since her trip to Paris last Spring when she saw these at her favorite stores!  Cue the visual image of Joanna jumping up and down saying, “These are the Paris pouches, the Paris pouches!”

4.  We ordered some of our favorites to bring back for fall plus so much more that is brand new…but we must not let all our good finds out of the bag quite yet!

5.  We found some fun new beach/pool bags to bring in for Spring/Summer.

6.  We admired the sights & sounds that the City has to offer.

7.  And while sometimes we felt far from home we had some fun reminders that Texas is always in the house.

8.  And finally we ended the work trip at Barney’s for a little lunch at Fred’s and for some inspiration…you know us girls…always working…wink!

While there,  we spied these in the men’s department…inspired??

Feeling a little scarfy…

In case you haven’t noticed…we LOVE scarves, especially this time of year.

They can keep you warm when it is still cool, obviously…but they are also a great way to bring in some color to your winter wears that are so wanting a little pop!

army is the new neutral…

 We are loving all the army green that is around these days…it’s has really become the new neutral.

Best part about army green…other than that it looks great on so many people…it is wearable all year around!  And since this crazy Texas weather has us guessing warm or cold daily a little army green in your closet may be just what you need.

Cold outside?  No problem – layer your army green with denim, black, tan, navy…can’t go wrong!

And as we begin to transition into spring…mix in some white, or maybe a little orange or some stripes.

And then when the time is right…army green looks great with white jeans!

We love it when it can be this easy!
